Texas two-step

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

Just ebcause they score 12 runs in one game, the Sox are not going to score 12 runs every game. Even facing a pitcher like John Wasdin, the Sox had trouble scoring runs. I didn't get to watch or listen to the game, as I was working. From glancing at the box score, I again see that the Sox scored all their runs on the home run. So, other than Monday night, in a four-game stretch, the Sox have scored 13 of 15 runs on the home run.

Look, I like slugging as much as the next guy, but none have had more than one guy on base, and no one on the Sox is getting on base (Although, Jurassic Carl walked twice Tuesday night). Big Hurt can't get back fast enough.

Cleveland, once again, scored an assload of runs against a decent (if underachieving) team in Anaheim. While Jarrod Washburn isn't Cy Young, he's also not the worst pitcher in the league (currently, Sir Sidney Ponson of the woeful Orioles). Hell, he's not even the worst pitcher on his team (that would be Bartolo Colon).

So, to recap: The Sox are having trouble scoring runs. Cleveland scores a lot of runs (7.6 since the break). The Sox have an ERA, since the All Star Break, of 4.29 (although, Cleveland's is similar at 4.91). Not horrible. That said, the Sox have scored 4.6 runs per game since the break.

Needless to say, I don't like the Sox in this series. The Sox are now in second, as the Twins beat the Tigers. Justin Morneau is finally up, which worries me. Blind squirrel... Nut... Whatever.

On another note, last night John Kruk was extolling the virtues of Ryan Klesko. Nothing like fat white trash sticking up for skinny white trash.

Second place sucks.
