Well, they've got to do something. Technically, the Sox aren't out of it; they're only 5 games back. Now, they're not going to get the Big Skirt back, and they're not going to get oh-EEH-oh Magglio back. They might as well give themselves the best chance they could have to make the playoffs, which, at this point, is to not use that BP machine they've been calling the number 5 starter. Schoenweis hasn't been awful (5.56 ERA in 111 2/3 IP), but he's on the DL now. With him down, you have the choice of nobody or Felix Diaz, who has been really awful (10.17 ERA in 23 IP, 5 starts. Opponents are hitting .373(!!) against him).
