Third place

Bunch of bums.

I can't even watch them anymore. No Frank Thomas, no Magglio, no wins. The Sox are taking a stock market-esque swan dive. Ick.

Well, as much as Kenny Williams showed the world that the Sox were serious about contending by going after Carl Everett and Roberto Alomar (again. I still don't get it.), it looks like the 2004 White Sox will end up the same as the 2003 club: underachievers. Despite the winning attitude that "Ozzieball" is supposedly all about, Pythagorus tells us that the White Sox are playing five games under their expected W-L mark of 59-48, the best expected W-L in the AL Central. The Twins are playing 4 games above their expected W-L of 58-51. Does this mean that the Sox are unlucky and the Twins are lucky? Probably. But I'd like to think it means that Ozzieball isn't as all about winning as the White Sox PR team would have you think it is.
